Airway Orthodontics for Adults
Align Your Smile. Open Your Airway.
Elevate Your Well-Being.
What is Airway Orthodontics?
Think of airway orthodontics as a more complete approach to straightening your smile. Yes, we care about giving you beautifully aligned teeth—but we’re equally focused on something you might not expect: how well you breathe. Here’s the thing: when your jaw and facial structure aren’t quite right, it can actually restrict your airway. That means you might be struggling with breathing issues, poor sleep, or even health problems you never connected to your bite.
Traditional orthodontics stops at straightening teeth. We go further. We look at the bigger picture—how your airway functions, whether you’re breathing as easily as you should, and how all of this impacts your sleep quality and overall wellness. By addressing the underlying structural issues that limit airflow, we’re not just creating a better smile. We’re helping you breathe better, sleep deeper, and feel healthier for years to come.
MARPE for Teens & Adults
Miniscrew Assisted Rapid Palatal ExpansionAdvanced palatal expansion technique for teens and adults who have completed jaw growth
- The midpalatal suture is the growth seam in the center of the upper jaw.
- During childhood, this suture is flexible and open, allowing traditional expanders to easily widen the upper jaw.
- As kids approach puberty, the suture begins to fuse, gradually becoming more rigid.
- By the late teen years and adulthood, the suture is typically fully or mostly closed, making traditional expansion much less effective.
- Because the suture is no longer easily movable, adults need a MARPE, which uses miniscrews to apply forces directly to the bone for true skeletal expansion.
- This approach allows orthodontists to widen the upper jaw in adults without relying solely on tooth movement or jaw surgery.
